UNFINISHED MURDER BALLAD: IT CAN'T BE REACHED AND IT WON'T GO AWAY

There is some evidence that the way our atoms work we don’t so much take things to hold them, but are constantly pushing them away from us.  Gravity is the angel.  Anger is the broken ocean, always spilled, never retreating.  If we actually wanted to allow our bodies to be completed, it wouldn’t matter, because it doesn’t work like that.  When we wish to take the throat of another and offer it to the moon, the moon is willing to accept, but that’s not how it works either…

Darren's poems have appeared, or are scheduled to appear in numerous magazines/journals, including the South Dakota Review, Meridian, The Louisville Review, Grist, and the Colorado Review

He is the author of "As We Refer To Our Bodies" (2013, 8th House), "Temporary Champions" (2014, Main Street Rag), and "Not For Art Nor Prayer" (2015, 8th House).  He is the Managing Editor of the Best of the Net Anthology.
